As the adulteration of poison in Malaysia is still rampant, it causes a big impact on the government, enforcement agencies and users. It is a library-based research, however, semi structured interviews were also carried out which lead to a few findings of this study. The main Act that govern the manufacturing of poison is the Poisons Act 1952 (Act 366). Besides Act 366, the manufacturing of poison are also governed under the Sales of Drugs Act 1952 (Act 368) and the Control of Drugs and Cosmetics Regulation 1984. Subsequently, there is a role of the Good Manufacturing Practices that needs to be complied with. Apart from that, the regulatory being controlled by the Drug Control Authority, the Pharmacy Enforcement Division and the National Pharmaceutical Control Bureau including their roles in Pre and Post Marketing Surveillance, the use of Adulterated Database and also the new safety feature using distinct Hologram for registered products in Malaysia are clearly identified. Certain provisions in the Poison Act 1952, the Sales of Drugs Act 1952 and the Control of Drugs and Cosmetics Regulation 1984, need to be reviewed to accommodate with the current situation. The study examines and compares the existing laws in other country, namely the United State of America. It is recommended that stiffer penalty be imposed and to have a single specific Act that governs poison, for legal and administration improvement

Extrapolative Morph Design Thinking as an Intangible Ecological Form to Encode the Ecodesign Identity

    Get PDF
This paper identifies a new distinction of ecodesign form, where it emerged from the literature case study that most practising designers have not conceived to interpret design research as an ecodesign identity. This research article objective reveals the ecological form creation in the semantics orders. The imaging product digitized an ecological form that was hermeneutically sourced by the literature review process using the heuristic method. It digitized the visual imagery before entering the prescriptive stage. The product imagery therefore digitized some ecodesign characteristics that the intangible ecological form conveyed in the form follows functional perspective; believing to environmentally-friendly product design. Social Network Sites (SNSs) is becoming one of the global phenomena with millions of users around the world. One of the issues that arise due to the growth of SNSs is the effect towards students’ learning. The aim of this study is to explore business students’ perceptions on SNSs and its effects on their learning experience. 327 survey questionnaires were distributed to business students in one of the public university in Malaysia via a random sampling approach. The results demonstrated that students use SNSs to get help from their course mates as well as their tutors on academic matters. In addition, students also found it more convenient to discuss course matters with their colleagues.  Majority of the students agreed that SNSs should be used for teaching and learning. Bearing the positive feedbacks from the students, the university management could exploit the advantage by incorporating SNSs as part of the business students’ learning process. Teleworking offers alternatives for people to work without concerning their geographical boundary or time zone. Work can be performed anywhere and anytime without restriction.Teleworking tends to be the trend in the world of business. However, in spite of its popularity, Malaysia is still lagging behind in its implementation.Telecommunication technology is the key factor in contributing to the successful implementation of teleworking. In order to carry out the task of teleworking,a variety of telecommunication facilities are available. However, nowadays, only one approach is considered effective that is using the Internet facilities (e-teleworking).The main objective of the research is to evaluate the effectiveness of e-teleworking. In depth literature review had been done in recognizing the traits of teleworking that can be implemented using Internet facilities.A prototype of e-teleworking had been developed as a tool in the evaluation phase. The findings had proven that Internet facilities are indeed one of the most effective alternatives in performing teleworking

The Effects of Resource Bundling on Third-party Logistics Providers’ Performance

    Get PDF
This research develops and tests a model of the effects of resources bundling on third-party logistics (3PL) providers’ performance. Based on data from a survey of Malaysian 3PLs, basic and advanced technology and equipment resources, knowledge and relational resources, and demand management interfaces are identified. The bundling of advanced technology, knowledge resources, and demand management interface capability are found to enhance 3PLs’ customer service innovation. Similar resource bundling (excluding advanced technology) is required to achieve cost leadership. The effects of other resources on performance are mediated mainly by the demand management interface capability and knowledge resources. This is a novel attempt to justify the interaction and mediation effects of resources and capabilities on performance. The research highlights the needs for 3PL managers to focus on developing and bundling their demand management interface capability and knowledge resources in order to achieve cost leadership, and further combine advanced technology into such bundling of resources and capabilities to achieve innovation in customer service. It advances the application of resource-based view (RBV) theory in logistics research by identifying resources that play supporting roles and examining the capabilities for enhancing 3PLs’ competitive performance

Rule-Based Control Application on Multimode Cricket Bowling Machine

    Get PDF
This paper presents the application of rule-based control on the multimode cricket bowling machine to create varying bowling deliveries. Rule-based control on the machine allows an easier imitation of the different deliveries utilized by the real cricket bowlers. This was achieved by studying the kinematic properties of the cricket bowling and designing the rule base to achieve the required trajectory. The corresponding rules had three inputs namely ball speed, side spin, and length whereas the outputs were motor rotational speed, motor rotational direction, and motor base orientation. The investigated rules were divided into two major groups; without-ball spin rules and with-ball spin rules. The first group was physically experimented and compared with simulation results via the ball’s trajectory mathematical model whereas the later was only simulated. Both results showed the effect of the rules on the ball trajectories where there was good coherence with the kinematic data obtained from the bowling deliveries. However, the effect of the ball spin rules was relatively small in terms of magnitude due to the lower ball rotational velocity. Thus, improving the machine’s capability by applying higher ball rotational velocity would augment the effect of the rules

Graph Theoretic Lattice Mining Based on Formal Concept Analysis (FCA) Theory for Text Mining

    Get PDF
The growth of the semantic web has fueled the need to search for information based on the understanding of the intent of the searcher, coupled with the contextual meaning of the keywords supplied by the searcher. The common solution to enhance the searching process includes the deployment of formal concept analysis (FCA) theory to extract concepts from a set of text with the use of corresponding domain ontology. However, creating a domain ontology or cross-platform ontology is a tedious and time consuming process that requires validation from domain experts. Therefore, this study proposed an alternative solution called Lattice Mining (LM) that utilizes FCA theory and graph theory. This is because the process of matching a query to related documents is similar to the process of graph matching if both the query and the documents are represented using graphs. This study adopted the idea of FCA in the determination of the concepts based on texts and deployed the lattice diagrams obtained from an FCA tool for further analysis using graph theory. The LM technique employed in this study utilized the adjacency matrices obtained from the lattice outputs and performed a distance measure technique to calculate the similarity between two graphs. The process was realized successively via the implementation of three algorithms called the Relatedness Algorithm (RA), the Adjacency Matrix Algorithm (AMA) and the Concept-Based Lattice Mining (CBLM) Algorithm. A similarity measure between FCA output lattices yielded promising results based on the ranking of the trace values from the matrices. Recognizing the potential of this method, future work includes refinement in the steps of the CBLM algorithm for a more efficient implementation of the process
